About Open Enrollment
Each year Wisconsin's open enrollment program allows parents to apply for their children to attend a school district other than the one in which they live. However, parents must apply during the regular Open Enrollment application period. The application period for the 2024-2025 school year begins at midnight on February 3, 2025, and will close at 4:00 p.m. on April 30, 2025. Late applications can not be accepted for any reason.
Beginning on February 3, 2025, you can complete the on-line application by accessing the DPI based application via their website here. (Note: the application will not be active until midnight on February 3, 2025.)
There is no tuition cost to the parents for their children to attend but transportation to and from school is the parent's responsibility with some exceptions. Once the student is accepted into the non-resident district they may continue to attend without having to reapply (under certain circumstances, an open enrollment student who needs special education services may have their open enrollment status reviewed on an annual basis).
Students who are attending a non-resident school may return to his or her resident school at any time by notifying both school districts that the student will be returning. However, once the student returns to the resident district they may not go back to the non-resident district without reapplying during the February open enrollment application period. Students and parents should be aware that returning to the resident district might affect their eligibility for inter-scholastic athletics.
If you move out of the District after the open enrollment application period but would like your children to continue attending in Boyceville, they may qualify for a Tuition Waiver (the waiver would allow the student to attend at no cost until the next open enrollment application period) or for an Alternative Application procedure if they meet one of the eligibility criteria. If you have any questions about the open enrollment or tuition waiver process or about Boyceville Schools please contact Alesha Kersten, Administrative Assistant at 643-3647, Ext. 220. Please also see the link above to the Department of Public Instruction website for more information on Open Enrollment.
