What is an ACT Test?
The ACT Test is a college entrance exam that has 4 major areas on the test – English, Math, Reading, and Science. There are some Universities that will also require a Writing exam on the ACT. Be sure to check the admissions requirements of your school choice. When you take the ACT you will get a Composite score. The Composite score is an average of the 4 major subject areas. A Composite score ranges from 1-36 and the most recent WI State Average Composite score is 19.
Juniors will take the ACT test for FREE in March at Boyceville High School
The March test is given by the BHS staff and there is no cost to students or families. The ACT test will include a writing score, so it may be used at the vast majority of colleges to meet admissions requirements.
Juniors and Seniors ... If you want to retake the ACT to potentially improve your score ... you MUST register online. Go to www.actstudent.org to register. You will need the following information:
- Our high school code for the ACT is 500265. You will need this code to register.
- Make sure you have at least one hour available to register online. The process includes a number of survey questions, including your current GPA, potential career choices and colleges you may be interested in applying to.
- Select a testing location and test date. The ACT retakes do not take place at our school, you will be asked to select a testing site. Many of our students take the ACT test in Menomonie at the Menomonie High School.
- How much will it cost? The 2024-2025 ACT cost is $69.00. The ACT Plus Writing option is $94.00.
There is help available to get you ready for the ACT. Students who study and prepare for the test do much better than someone taking the test “cold” and unprepared.
